Dog Transport Day!

So today I rode along on a dog transport, one of my favorite things to do.  Jody (an AMAZING woman who does a lot for dogs even if she doesn't realize it! And she's a HUGE inspiration and just an all around spectacular woman)  has been helping the local dogs for a little while now.  I'm so glad I met her! She really has a passion for helping dogs.

Anyway, she drove some dogs from the local shelter, with myself and another very sweet and wonderful woman, Lisa.  We drove to Kingdom City which is almost an hour or so away.  Not too far.  We drove there and met another transport driver who works VERY closely with rescue groups, and she REALLY REALLY REALLY does a lot for dogs, her whole life is dedicated to helping dogs.  Ruth is a wonderful woman! I'm glad I've gotten to meet her twice now. I look forward to meeting her again on other dog transports.

We picked up the dogs from the shelter this morning, and drove to our meet up place.  We walked the doggies and gave them some water while we waited for Ruth to get there.  The dogs were wonderful on the drive to our transport meeting area, and they did great for the rest of their ride too.  And are now resting well where they are.

I am so happy for these doggies.  They won't be in a scary noisy animal shelter anymore, where they could face getting sick or being put down.  Very scary things dogs face at shelters.  They could  get sick from another stray drog brought in, they could get kennel aggression, they could be very scared and timid, so many things.  The scariest thought, is thinking of these dogs being put down.  It's heart breaking.  Especially knowing...these dogs have done NOTHING WRONG! :(  Unfortunately shelters can only hold so many dogs.

So to see them go to a rescue group for a 2nd chance, is an awesome feeling.

I hope we can adopt out or send dogs to rescue groups every week!

Here are a few photos from the transport today!
Lisa poses with Marty for a quick photo while we rest at our stop for the
transport drop off area.

I pose LOL for a horrible photo of me, with adorable Abby (AKA Mary Ann)
This gal is my dog Molly's mama, how she came to be at the shelter I don't know.
But I'm glad my husband recognized, and I'm glad we were able to help her
get into a rescue.

Adorable Marty! He just wants to play!

Beautiful Abby! She is such a sweet dog.

Also, the FUR EVER YOURS PHOTO FUN DAY that was going to be tomorrow, will NOT be tomorrow.  Instead we will be meeting up at the shelter on 6/12 (Next Tuesday) the shelter is undergoing some deep cleaning at the moment so volunteers have been asked to come next week to walk and bathe dogs.

We appreciate all of the volunteers and are so thankful and happy they come out to help! You guys are amazing!

Instead of going to the shelter tomorrow, I will be heading to a little rescue group in town.  She has several dogs that need their photos taken after a good grooming.  They need to be networked so they can find a home.  So that's what I"ll be working on tomorrow.

There is another little puppy who was at the shelter (though she is currently hanging out at Jody's place).  She will hopefully be going to a rescue group in a day or two.  We're currently in the process of finding her one.  She got to be some kind of heeler mix, she's a beauty.
Isn't she just a sweet heart?  Pretty sure she is a heeler mix of some sort

I still have kittens that need to be adopted as well!

1 male bob tailed tabby, who is about 10 weeks old I think.  Getting close anyway.  And an all black gal and her sister who is long haired and gray and white (Cinders and Patches) would love to see the girls go together.  Cinders needs some vet care as she has a case of the ickies we can't seem to shake, so she has me worried, and she's been on some medicine for it.  They are all 3 in need of a good good home.  Would love to see that they are spayed and neutered.  That's something very important to do with your pets!

If you are anyone you know needs assistance getting your pet spayed or neutered you should look into SNaP programs (Spay Neuter and Protect) programs that can assist you in getting your pet spayed or neutered.  You can check out this link for more info: http://www.snapmo.org/

Today was a very wonderful day seeing the dogs go off to a rescue group for their 2nd chance at a better life.  Wishing them the very best!!
