Fur Ever Yours -- Photo Fun Day At the Shelter

Today was a lovely day at the local animal shelter.  There was a large turn out of volunteers which was absolutely wonderful.  We were able to wash several dogs, brush them, walk them, play with them, love them up and take their photos.

There were several new faces at the shelter helping out and that was great to see. They varied from age 4 and a half to up in their 60's and 70's! There were several teenagers and they were a lot of help and did a great job.  Thank you to everyone who came out and helped!

Bruce and Ryder might be going to a rescue group in Illinois, which would be wonderful! Now if only we could find somewhere for Simba and Mary Ann to go as they are the other 2 that are on the list to die if they aren't out of the shelter soon.

The shelter is very full.

There are a lot of puppies coming in left and right. It's heart breaking.

I am really hoping these dogs get adopted out or sent to a rescue really soon.  We're in desperate need of rescue groups, and fosters.

We also need chain link fencing, poles, and gates donated to the shelter so these dogs can stop being kept in the kennels all the time.  It's not healthy for them to be kept in those kennels.  It can make them sick, and it can make them aggressive.  If they are sick or aggresive they can't be adopted out and they die.

These dogs need a dog run, a nice fenced in area to run run run! It will help them out a LOT, but the shelter does NOT have money.  It is completely depending on YOUR donations.  Your time, your money, your kindness.

This is a wonderful community and I know they can pull together to help the dogs at the shelter!

Again thank you to everyone who came out to help! Below is a list of the new dogs, and of some of the volunteers.  Sorry this was a short blog, it's late, and I'm tired.  It's been a looong fun day.

This is Marty, he's a scared boy.  He was an owner relinquishment. He is very scared and timid
until he gets to know you.  Once he gets to know you he is a very loving cuddly boy.
He really loves dog treats! He's probably about 5 months old.

This is Baby, she's a gorgeous gal about 3 months old.  I am really
not sure what kind of dog she is! But she's very pretty! Very friendly,
very playful, good around other dogs and kids. She really loves dog
treats too.  She was picked up as a stray with her sister Cinnamon.
She did well around other dogs and people, and did well for a bath.

This is Cinnamon, who was picked up as a stray with her sister Baby.
Cinnamon is about 3 months old, and WOW she's full of energy! There
was no way I was going to get her to sit still for a photo so a volunteer
held her on her lap, which helped a little bit.  She wants to play and run
lick you and investigate the world! She does well with other dogs and people
and did very well for a bath.

Jessie looks to be a schnauzzer/black lab mix.  VERY sweet girl.
She is very smart, and a little sneaky LOL She kept taking off with my whole bag
of dog treats the moment my back was turned, no matter where I tried to hide them.
She's very playful, did well for a bath, and loves other dogs and people.

We think this little gal HAS an owner but that she's just gotten
lost somehow, so we're searching for her owner.  We would LOVE
to reunite her with her family.  She looks like she's a maltepoo.
She's scared, and doesn't understand why she's in the shelter.
I'd say she's around 2 or 3 years old. She did pretty good for her bath.
She seems to do ok around other dogs, and likes people though
she is a little shy.

Carly is a GORGEOUS brindle gal! She's about 4 or 5 months old.
She loved her bath, and did great for her photos.  She did great with
other dogs, and around people, and ok on a leash.  She is absolutely
gorgeous.
3 volunteers work on bathing Jessie.

Another volunteer takes Goober on a walk after his bath!

Here Gypsy sits with another volunteer and she is soaking in the love and cuddles!
Gypsy is going into the HOUNDS Prison training program, and upon
graduation she is already adopted out!

Here two volunteers give the malteese pup a bath

Here another volunteer takes Jessie out into the grass and spends
some time with her.

Another volunteer takes my buddy Joe on a walk
though he thought sitting and watching
the other dogs get bathes was pretty interesting.

Here another volunteer gives big Bruce a bath.

Here the new animal control officer and her daughter work together
and give big ol' Bruce, a big ol bath! He looks so much better!
Carly soaks up some lovin's from another volunteer
